ZEPYHRUS® Gel Box Blue System 2.0

The Zephyrus Gel Box Blue System 2.0 is a two-part system where each part can be purchased individually.

The Zephyrus Gel Box Blue System 2.0 is a complete system for observing nucleic acids on agarose gels and taking high-quality photos using a smartphone or tablet camera, which is comprised of an illumination base and the Zephyrus Gel Box Enclosure 2.0. The system uses blue light, which is safer for personnel and does not destroy DNA samples as opposed to UV light. The blue light emitted by the illumination base has an intense peak with a wavelength of 460 nm, which is optimal for excitation of nucleic acids stained with green dyes (EliDNA, SYBR green, GelGreen and others).

The Zephyrus Gel Box Blue System 2.0 includes an orange photo filter. This filter is designed to absorb (block) blue excitation light from the blue light transilluminator, allowing only fluorescent samples to be seen to capture gel images using a smartphone camera. We recommend using the filter in combination with Zephyrus Blue Viewing Glasses. The Zephyrus Orange Viewing Cover is designed for wieving the gels directly on the illumination base and can be also adujsted at an angle for easy access and band cutting for subsequent applications.

Zephyrus Gel Box Enclosure 2.0 is designed to view nucleic acids on agarose gels and take high-quality photos using a smartphone or tablet camera. Zephyrus Gel Box Enclosure 2.0 can be used on any blue or UV transilluminator.

Additional filters are also available for observing gels stained with ethidium bromide (Z-DOC-523) or green dyes (Z-DOC-522).

Zephyrus UV Block Shield is a pad designed to complement the Zephyrus Gel Box Enclosure 2.0 for safe personnel work when used with large area UV illuminators to prevent exposure to UV light.
